In Loving Memory

On April 15, 2026, Gregg Kelton Patrick of Midvale, Utah, passed away at the age of 70 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett E. and Nadine G. Patrick (New Mexico). He is survived by his brothers, Scott (Sharon) and Garry; sister, Dale; step-sisters, Jil and Patty (Don); cousins, Carrie (Don), Robert (Rosalee), and Charles (Lucy); two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Bozeman, Montana, he was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

As a student and young adult, he enjoyed playing hockey, occasionally winning a cribbage game with his father, playing table games with his brother, and intimidating his sister’s dates. He formed and successfully operated a security business in the Albuquerque area for several years, followed by work in Alaska and Montana.

After settling in Midvale, he became an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was renowned for the cookies, fudge, and cinnamon rolls he lovingly baked for shut-ins, healthcare providers, co-workers, and friends. Each year, his gardening skills produced an abundance of crops, which became pickles and other home-canned delights enjoyed by family and friends.

Originally taught sewing techniques by his mother, Gregg made his own shirts and slacks, necessitated by his large size. Dubbed “Moose” by his step-sister, he shared many sewing tips and much laughter with her. Whether in New Mexico, California, Montana, or at home, family gatherings were enriched by his ability to recall and share humorous family stories. Although he did not have indoor pets, his care for neighborhood outdoor cats ensured they had food, water, and a warm, safe place to rest, particularly during cold weather. He also enjoyed feeding squirrels at the Montana family cabin, finding peace in the river sounds and joy in sharing those moments with friends and their children.

Gregg was a kind, generous, and gentle man with a ready laugh and an appreciation for a good joke. He will be remembered with much love and will be deeply missed by those who were privileged to know him. A private celebration of his life is planned for the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society (800-227-2345 or donate.cancer.org) or a charity of one’s choice.

I had the privilege of being one of Gregg's oncology nurses and have the fortunate experience to be the recipient of his amazing garden and treats. I really got to enjoy chatting with Gregg and getting to know him. He was very strong and resilient and I admire is tenacity! He is missed so much in our clinic!
