In Loving Memory

On April 15, 2026, Gregg Kelton Patrick of Midvale, Utah passed away at the age of 70 years after a lengthy illness.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett E. and Nadine G. Patrick (New Mexico).  He is survived by brothers Scott (Sharon) and Garry, sister Dale, step-sisters Jil and Patty (Don), cousin Carrie (Don), 2 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Born in Bozeman, Montana, he was raised in Albuquerque, NM.

As a student and young adult, he enjoyed playing hockey, occasionally winning a cribbage game with his father, playing table games with his brother, and intimidating his sister’s dates.  He formed and operated for several years a successful security business in the Albuquerque area, followed by work in Alaska and Montana.

After settling in Midvale, he became an active member of the LDS Church community, and became renowned for the cookies, fudge and cinnamon rolls he personally baked for shut-ins, healthcare providers, co-workers, and friends.  Each year, his gardening skills produced an abundance of crops which became pickles and other home-canned delights sought by family and friends.

Taught sewing techniques by his mother, Gregg made his own shirts and slacks, necessitated by his large size.  Dubbed “moose” by his step-sister, he shared many sewing tips and much laughter with her.  Whether in New Mexico, California, Montana or at home, family gatherings were enriched by his ability to remember and relate humorous events.  Although he did not have indoor pets, his care for the neighborhood outdoor cats ensured they had food, water and a warm, safe place to rest, particularly during cold weather.  He always enjoyed feeding the squirrels at the Montana family cabin, the peace and river sounds offered there, and the opportunities to share them with his friends and their children.

Gregg was a kind, generous and gentle man with a ready laugh and appreciation for a good joke.  He will be remembered with much love, and will be missed by those who were privileged to know him.  A private celebration of life is planned for the future.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society or other charity of personal choice.
