1937 - 2026

In Loving Memory

Carolyn Joan Lawrence Harrison passed away peacefully at home in Dallas, Texas, on October 13, 2026.

Carolyn was born 89 years ago, on September 22, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents Jean (Jeannie) Lawrence (née Castleton) and Lyman Ernest Lawrence. She joined older sisters Sharon Kay (Sherry) and Jeannie Ellen. A few years after Carolyn’s birth came her youngest sister, Nancy Linda (Linda).

During Carolyn’s parents’ early marriage, her father was assigned to work on the Alaskan pipeline during WWII due to his skill as a heliarc welder. This left her mother to raise and provide for herself and four young daughters.

Carolyn was very close to her sisters growing up, and those relationships endured throughout the years. Though her mother was stern and worked many hours outside the home, she felt loved and well taken care of.

The person Carolyn loved the most was her father, whom she called “Daddy.” She was devastated when he left during the war and didn’t see him for three years. And when he came back, he was a changed man. Nothing would be the same after that.

Carolyn’s experiences throughout childhood shaped her into the adult she became. She was hardworking, compassionate, and creative.

Carolyn married young, and from that first union came three children: Kurt, Jan, and Michael. When that marriage dissolved, she met the love of her life, Thomas Dudley Harrison, and moved to Los Angeles. Within that marriage, three more children joined the family: Powell, Ashleigh, and James. Their later years were spent in Park City as well as Draper, Utah.

Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family brought her the greatest joy. She served wherever she was needed. Carolyn was also a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom, and sisters Sherrie and Jeannie.

She is survived by her children Kurt (Susan), Jan (John Galbraith), Michael (Jill), Powell (Jessica), Ashleigh (Ryan Spencer), and James (Eneida); grandchildren Jacob (Marianna), Nicholas, Benjamin, Sarah (Josh Freeman), Johnny (Joanna), Caitlin (Bobby Wright), Jake (Britany Barnes), Will, Tess, Matthew, Savannah, Hunter, Brinley, Mckenna, JR, Lexi, Belle, Henry, Charlie, and Alex; and great-grandchildren Isabella, Violet, Poppy, James, Sally, Winnie, Jack, Cooper, Ben, Tommy, Matt, Ralf, Mathilda, and Dottie.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Inspired Funeral Home, located within the Historic City View Mortuary, 1001 E. 11th Ave., Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.
