An articulate speaker and avid reader with a quick, clever wit, he listened with rare intention, making everyone feel truly seen. He faced life's hardships with grit, doing his utmost to choose mercy over retaliation when dealing with hurt and conflict. He considered himself a Christian to the day he died.Through the heavy burdens of severe mental illness and past injuries, Mitchell stayed committed to a meaningful and honest life, guided by the belief that progress matters far more than perfection. We take comfort in knowing the weight he carried has been set down, and that he is at rest.Never to be forgotten by his mother, Heidi, stepfather Bob, his siblings Meggan and Peter, his niece Faith, his nephew Tristin, and extended family, alongside a community of friends who stood beside him. We express profound gratitude to all the mental health care providers in his life outside his family who helped bring him home over and over again.
