1948 - 2025
In Loving Memory
Rocky Scott Hensen, 77, of Salt Lake City, passed away on October 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and COPD.
Rocky was born on May 25, 1948, in Salt Lake City to Glenn Henson and Kate (Greer) Henson. He grew up in Cottonwood Heights, graduated from Hillcrest High School, and later continued his education at the University of Utah.
Rocky was married to Valarie Henson for 39 years. Together they had two children: Brooks (David) Bernard and Michael (Robyn) Hensen. He also had two special granddaughters, Addie and Reese.
In 2009, Rocky married Dianna (Lochrie) after the two re-connected at a high school reunion and quickly rekindled their relationship. Through this marriage, he welcomed stepchildren Britt (Shawn) Graham and Jared and Jason McGrath, along with grandchildren Mackenzie, Kennedy, Kayden, and Ryder into his life, He also had a very special relationship with Dianna's mother Carol Lochrie.
Rocky built a successful career in powder coating and was the owner of Applied Coatings in Frederick Colorado, and he brought his son Mike into his business. IHe took great pride in his work and the business he built over the years.
Outside of work, Rocky loved hunting, old westerns, music and playing the guitar—especially Bob Dylan—. He had a great voice and was known for his talent as a musician. He also cherished his role as a grandfather and enjoyed trips to Wendover.
Rocky will be remembered for his warmth, blunt honesty, dry humor, and generosity. He lived life with a carefree spirit and a perspective that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Whenever we hear a Bob Dylan song, hear a guitar playing, eat a late night snack, play a slot machine, or watch an old western movie, we will always think of our "Rockstar"!
A celebration of Rocky’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 2:00–5:00 PM at the home of Britt and Shawn Graham 11477 S. Willow View Way Sandy, UT 84092. All who knew and loved Rocky are welcome to come celebrate his life.
