1955 - 2026

In Loving Memory

Susan Marie Randle Southerland, age 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Lehi, Utah, on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

Susan was born on March 19, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Howard Dale Randle and Ruth Marie Willis Randle.

On July 20, 1974, Susan married the love of her life, Bob Southerland, in San Jose, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on faith, love, and family. They were blessed with five children, 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter who found her greatest happiness in being surrounded by family. She had a special gift for nurturing children and dedicated much of her life to caring for countless little ones through her work as a childcare professional in her home. She found tremendous joy in watching children learn, grow, and discover the world around them.

Her love for teaching extended into her own family. Susan devoted many hours to homeschooling her children for several years, creating lasting memories and sharing lessons that would remain with them throughout their lives. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness.

Susan had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple joys of life. Summers were filled with cherished family traditions of camping, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and barbecues. When autumn arrived, she especially enjoyed taking drives to admire the beautiful changing leaves. In her later years, she looked forward to larger family gatherings, particularly the monthly birthday dinners that brought everyone together. These moments, filled with laughter, conversation, and love, were among her most treasured.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Susan found great joy and purpose in serving others. Throughout her life, she faithfully fulfilled many church callings. She especially loved singing in the choir and teaching gospel doctrine classes, where she could share her testimony and love of the gospel. One of her greatest blessings was the opportunity to attend the temple with many of her grandchildren for their first temple experiences. Susan was also a devoted and supportive companion to Bob, encouraging and standing beside him in his church callings.

Susan's life was a beautiful example of love, faith, kindness, and devotion. Her gentle spirit, nurturing heart, and unwavering commitment to her family touched countless lives. The memories she created and the love she so freely shared will continue to be cherished by all who knew her.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Bob Southerland; her five children, Pam (Andrew), Jason (Karen), Sandra, Christina (Ryan), and Jennifer; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and her sisters, Carol and Pam.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Dale and Ruth Marie Randle, and her brother, Steven.

A memorial service celebrating Susan's life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 2447 W. Ravencrest Lane, Lehi, Utah at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Susan and the wonderful life she shared with those she loved.
