Susan Reese Kinder

Susan Reese Kinder was born on March 14, 1952, and passed away on May 7, 2026.

Susan grew up in Magna, Utah, where she was raised in a loving family and attended Cyprus High School. During her school years, she developed a passion for drama and music. She participated in several plays, including The Music Man, lettered in drama, and graduated with honors. Susan had a beautiful singing voice and carried a deep love for music throughout her life.

Susan married Bill Kinder and welcomed her eldest son, Troy Kinder, in 1971. Though the marriage later ended in divorce in 1977, Susan's love for her family remained constant throughout her life. In 1981, she welcomed her youngest son, Sean Reese, whose birth brought great joy, love, and light into her life.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Reese; her father, Bill Reese; and her sister, Kim Harward.

Susan is survived by her eldest son, Troy Kinder, and his wife, Stephanie; her youngest son, Sean Reese; and her grandchildren, Jordan and Alex Kinder, and Kayla and Kamryn Rask.

Susan was an intelligent woman with a caring heart. While life was not always easy for her, and she faced many struggles along the way, she always tried to be a good friend to those around her. She grew deeply in her faith and relied greatly on Christ and her Heavenly Father for strength and comfort.

For the last six years of her life, Susan resided at St. Joseph Villa following complications from surgery that resulted in her requiring long-term dementia care. During that time, her granddaughter Jordan faithfully visited her every week, bringing companionship, love, and comfort through some of the most difficult years of Susan's life.

Jordan shared that she will always treasure the sleepovers she had with her grandmother, when Susan loved showing her favorite movies and making Jordan feel special and deeply loved. Susan also delighted in the little things in life, especially telling Jordan about new treasures and goodies she had found. Jordan said she will forever miss her grandmother's beautiful smile and will always carry her love in her heart.

As her son, I would be remiss if I did not share how much I loved my mother. Our relationship was not always simple, and at times it could be challenging, but it was always honest, real, and rooted in love. Through the years, she taught me some of life's most important lessons: how to think for myself, how to love deeply, and how to truly live. I learned strength from her, compassion from her, and an appreciation for life's joys and struggles alike. Despite the ups and downs we experienced together, I will always be grateful that she was my mother.

Mom, I will miss you for the rest of my life. My hope and prayer is that you have finally found the love, peace, security, and comfort that you searched for throughout so much of your journey. You were loved more than you knew, and you will never be forgotten.

Susan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

We love you, Mom. As Sean so perfectly said, "She finally got out of that room." We pray that you are now free, at peace, and reunited with the loved ones who have gone before you. You will always be held close in our hearts and never forgotten.
