The details
Choosing an urn at Inspired
An urn is chosen after the bigger decision: what will happen to your loved one’s remains. Remains kept at home can go in almost any urn. Remains placed in a columbarium niche must fit the niche, and most niches have size limits. Remains buried at a cemetery may need an urn vault. Remains scattered or buried at sea call for a biodegradable urn. Remains shared among family call for keepsake urns or jewelry. Your director asks that question first, then shows the urns that fit.
Every simple cremation at Inspired Funeral Home includes a basic utility urn, a simple sealed container suitable for keeping or scattering, or a $50 credit toward any other urn we sell. The Traditional Funeral and Cremation package includes a $100 urn credit. Urn prices are itemized on our General Price List and range from simple cultured-marble and wood urns to hand-finished metal, ceramic and glass.
Personalization is available on most urns: engraved names and dates, a short line, military insignia for veterans, or a photo panel. Engraving usually takes a few days, and we hold the remains in a temporary container until the urn is ready if you prefer. Keepsake urns, small vessels that hold a portion of the remains, and memorial pendants let several family members keep something close.
You may also purchase an urn elsewhere and bring it to us; there is no handling charge. For families placing remains at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park, the cemetery provides the niche and inscription for an eligible veteran, and we confirm the urn dimensions the cemetery accepts.
