Caskets in Salt Lake City

Shown with their prices. Chosen by you.

Every casket at Inspired Funeral Home is shown with its price, and you choose. A simple cloth-covered or cremation casket costs a fraction of a hardwood or metal one, and for a viewing before cremation a rental casket avoids buying one at all. Casket prices are on our General Price List; call (385) 853-5700 or ask your director.

What happens next

From your first call onward

  1. 01

Decide on burial or cremation first

The casket choice follows the service. A cremation with a viewing usually calls for a rental casket; a burial calls for one you purchase.

  2. 02

    See the options with prices

In our selection room at the Avenues office or by photo and price sheet if you are out of state. No option is hidden and none is pushed.

  3. 03

    Choose, or bring your own

Buy from us, or purchase a casket elsewhere and have it delivered to us. Federal rules require us to accept it, and we do so at no extra charge.

Is this the right choice?

Who this is for — and who it isn't

A good fit when

  • Families planning a burial who want to see prices before choosing
  • Families holding a viewing before cremation who want to rent rather than buy
  • Families choosing green burial who want a biodegradable casket or shroud

Probably not the right fit if

  • —Families choosing direct cremation with no viewing; no casket is needed, and a simple container is included in the $650

The details

How caskets are priced and chosen at Inspired

The casket is usually the single largest merchandise cost in a burial, and it is the one families most often feel pressured about. At Inspired Funeral Home every casket in our selection room carries its price, from simple cloth-covered and cremation caskets through hardwood and metal, and your director explains the difference without steering you. Casket prices are itemized on our General Price List and are separate from the service package.

For a funeral with a viewing followed by cremation, most families use a rental casket: a finished exterior with a removable interior container that goes to the cremation. It lets you hold a full viewing without purchasing a casket. Our Traditional Funeral and Cremation package is $2,195, with the rental casket priced separately on the General Price List.

For a green or natural burial we offer biodegradable caskets and shrouds with no metal or varnish, accepted in the natural burial sections of local cemeteries. For a burial at the Utah Veterans Cemetery or any valley cemetery, we also confirm whether the cemetery requires an outer burial container, so the total is known before you sign.

You are also free to buy a casket from a retailer or online and have it delivered to us. Federal Trade Commission rules require funeral homes to accept a third-party casket without a handling fee, and we do. Tell your director the delivery time and we take it from there.
