Obituary

Larry Edward Rich age, 73, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024. in West Valley City, Utah. He was born September 19, 1950, in Dragerton, Utah to Filipa Donilia Aguirre and Lloyd Edward Johnson but raised by Darwon Rich.

He married Deanna Deuel on April 13, 1972, in Elko, Nevada. In loving memory of our father, who touched so many lives in a grand way.

He served in the US Army admirably and received the following medals: Army Commendation, Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar, and National Defense Service Medal. He was a man of strong faith, continually studying the Bible and on his knees in prayer. Our Dad’s life had many challenges and obstacles, but he pushed through to his very best. Always there for his family to celebrate and cheer us on in our successes and provided wise counsel in our heartaches.

Early in life, our Dad learned the importance of hard work and he showed us the way to the same work ethic.

He had a great style about him to the very end. “Keeping the greaser in him alive and well.” Handsome with thick white hair, combed just so… His love for music, Elvis, playing his guitar, and teaching his grandkids as well as playing and singing for them—such beautiful memories he left us to cherish. Our Dad also had a passion for making jewelry, rings of pure silver spoons with turquoise stones.

The past few months my Dad told me he would hear a beautiful angelic choir. He also shared many memories and joyful stories. OH, how he adored his Aunt Martha, he spoke of her every day. Such beautiful love and loyalty.

Dad, you are now at peace, but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in Peace. He is survived by his daughters, Tina, Sarina, and DeeDee Ann; grandkids, Rosalina, Joseph, Charles, Larry, Laila, Isabelle, Anthony, Donavan, and Christian (CJ); great-grandkids, Jaida, Christian (Jr.), Mariah, Ariella, Larry, JoeJoe, Maliah, Tyson, Benny, Sophie, Phoebe, Elijah, and Charles Cruz; siblings, LeIsle, Roslyn, Roxanne, and Darchelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darwon and Phyllis Rich, and the love of his life, our mother, Deanna Johnson.

Graveside services will be held, Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road Bluffdale, Utah 84065. Where he will be laid to rest with his loving wife, Deanna Johnson.
